11A- Idea Napkin no.1

1.) I have grown in a great environment. My mother stayed at home while I was younger and my father is a police officer so my siblings and I had a simple childhood. I caught on to sports and have been playing since i was four years old and have continued to play to this day (playing football here at UF). It has been a crazy journey and when I was younger, my aspirations was to be a professional athlete but I have now directed my views to becoming a successful business man, husband and father. In business, I would like to go into sales potentially, turf fertilizer sales is what I am looking to right now. Selling a slow releasing fertilizer to maintain the feeding process to the plant for an extended amount of time instead of it being a quick release and my future customers having to apply more each year. I would love to either be a sales rep and ultimately work my way up to an executive role.

2.)With the product I will be selling to customers, Polyon, it is a coated fertilizer that releases in a controlled time table so customers will have to purchase less amounts per year. This need that all people need is saving money. I will meet those needs if given the opportunity to work with customers for a few years because I will not be a cheap product. It will be priced higher than my competitors but with it being a controlled released fertilizer, they will not need to purchase as many orders per year. So money will begin to be placed back into my customers pockets a few years in.

3.) My main audience I will be selling to is golf courses. This is a big ticket territory because golf courses span for many acres and often have high budgets to purchase the highest quality to make sure that their members as satisfied with the course conditions. From private clubs to home town courses, everybody loves to play on a nice, well maintained course. So that will be my main target audience.

4.) They will care to purchase my fertilizer because the results that will come from it will blow out what ever they have previously been using out of the water and give their course a sense of professional course play if they continue to use the program initiated to them. Though it is higher priced, they will like the idea that they will have to purchase less per year so it will look appealing in different ways.

5.) What sets me apart is Polyon. Not everybody uses this product. in fact it is only going to be sold through my company and will be highly exclusive.

I believe with these elements I will be successful. This will be competitive and my back ground being an athlete and naturally competitive will help me beat my competitors in any way possible. Not everybody will use me I know that but my relationship skills with my customers will be my number one concern for the entirety of my products life. There will be nobody out there that will be friendly enough, and have the steam that will make their life and courses at a best case.

    This is a great post and I enjoyed reading it. I think you did a great job at saying why people will purchase your fertilizer and I am not sure what Polyon is, but I think it is great that you are already able to distinguish what makes your fertilizer different and even better. Good work.

    I liked reading about your idea napkin in this blog post. You did good research on this product, Polyon, and where to sell it. I think golf courses is a great route to take. You talked about how the product is not cheap and will help the golf course not use as much water. I think its a great idea. However, I would look into how harmful it could be for the environment. Municipal waste water is a huge deal in polluting our water systems. You would be using less water, but will the effect on pollution also be decreased?
